We're building a small team of security professionals who enjoy working closely with startups. You'll run real security programs for a handful of companies, with purpose-built software to handle much of the administrative work.
01 The work
Own the program, not a ticket queue.
As a Forward Deployed Security Officer, you're the security lead for each company you work with. You get to know their people, their systems and their customers, and you're accountable for how their program runs.
- A few companies, known well
- You work with a small set of clients at a time, so you can learn how each one actually operates.
- Inside the team
- You join their Slack, their standups and their customer calls, and you're the person they ask about security.
- Software for the busywork
- Highwatch monitors controls, drafts questionnaire answers and schedules recurring work, so your time goes to judgment.
- Your name on the work
- Nothing reaches a client until you've reviewed and approved it, including anything the platform drafts.

03 What we look for
People who've run a program before.
Our clients rely on their officer's judgment, so we hire for experience and for the ability to explain security plainly to founders and engineers.
- You've taken a company through a SOC 2, HIPAA or ISO 27001 audit and know where they go wrong.
- You're comfortable in a cloud console and can talk through access controls with an engineer.
- You write clearly, whether it's a policy, a questionnaire answer or a note to a CEO.
- You like working with startups, where priorities change and the security lead is often you.
